Halloween Disc-A-Day: Day 3 Pirates of Ghost Island

This project is an attempt to help me get dvds that for one reason or another I’ve never seen off of my shelf and give them a watch.  On the list for day 3 is Pirates of Ghost Island.

IMDb: Pirates of Ghost Island (Video 11 September 2007)
After enjoying a graduation party amid a cruise, an unexpected storm strikes, stranding a group of young friends on an uninhabited island (or so they thought.) Before they know it, they are…

From the makers of the Pirates of the Caribbean… sort of. Pirates of Ghost Island is directed by Mitch Toles who worked in the special effects department for every movie in the series. This might lead you to the expectation of something along those lines, but hold on. The box lets you know what the movie has to offer. The features include 2.0 stereo, English closed captions, subtitles in both English and Spanish, and a 4X3 letterbox presentation giving you that much sought after “black bars to the left and right” as well as “black bars along the top and bottom” look. The fact of the matter is this movie doesn’t much of anything to offer. (That’s an inside joke if you watch the movie.) There are what seem like attempts at jokes, but they don’t work at all. Even the effects are very amateur which is shocking knowing the directors background. I’ve have nothing left to say about this. I just hope things improve tomorrow when I watch Rottweiler. Come back then. And fuck this movie.
