This project is an attempt to help me get dvds that for one reason or another I’ve never seen off of my shelf and give them a watch. Today’s pick is S.I.C.K. Serial Insane Clown Killer.
IMDb: S.I.C.K. Serial Insane Clown Killer (Video 17 February 2004)
A couple of friends are chased by a killer clown in the woods during a week-end.
Given the recent rash of sightings relating to clowns engaged in such heinous crimes as loitering, I thought what better time to dip my toes into the vast sub-genre of killer clown movies. I unfortunately have more than one of these and picked S.I.C.K. It’s rated 2.1 on IMDB which is slightly above my other option, Mr Jingles, that comes in at an even 2. If this really is the better of the two, I’m dreading having to watch Mr Jingles. I didn’t like this at all, but do have to say it’s made slightly better than movies at this level of budget tend to be. For me, there are two complaints. They repeatedly do Family Guy style flashbacks. It never works, but they just keep going back to that trick over and over. The other problem is more broad. It doesn’t feel like there is any inspiration behind it other than wanting to put killer clowns and creepy dolls on screen. I got bored and I put effort into giving low budget movies a fair shake. I couldn’t see a random viewer picking this up and being able to get through it.
