Halloween Disc-A-Day: Day 18 – Demon Lord Dante: Dante Resurrects

For a third year, I’m going to be watching at least one horror DVD per day and writing a short review about them. I’ve acquired a new batch that I haven’t previously seen, so without any further delay. Let’s get to work.

Demon Lord Dante (Maô Dante)

A boy becomes connected to a potentially world-ending giant monster, Demon Lord Dante.

This is the only non-movie DVD I’ll be covering.  It’s doesn’t appear to be a very popular title.  The only IMDb synopsis is the one I wrote.  I can see why that might be.  If I were to describe it as briefly as possible, I would call it slightly subpar horror anime.  From that, you should be able to get the idea if this is something you would want to track down.  This is the first four episodes strung together without the work of removing the credit sequences or commercial bumps having even been done.  That’s more or less the first third of the entire run of the show.  Having not seen where the series is going, it seems to be heading to some predictable hero areas as far as the main plot and possibly an incest angle for the main character and his sister.  I can’t say for certain.  It’s just the general vibe is was getting.  Maybe I’m way off base there or something was lost in the English dub, but I don’t know.  Anime… Weird, right?

I’ll be back tomorrow with another review and if you’d like to hear us talk about some live action version of anime, check out the Motion Picture Meltdown episodes on the Fist of the North Star and Speed Racer as well as Guyver movies.
